The phone is simply a foundation, for our imagination to bloom. We spend countless hours on our devices; junkies to the beck and call of our notifications. The phone was created to shed light on the ideas of the common world yet we act hindered to the goat of it all “Social Media”. It is as if the internet is the shepherd and we are its herd. Wondering aimlessly through the seemingly infinite streams of entertainment and high-quality media outlets. The once thought of complications of a simple face to face interaction is a now dying feat in the journey of our lives. After all, why communicate through the eyes and risk being told no when you can simply send a text and feel no emotion or grief. Our emotions are being digitalized and it is as if the world is blind to see, the depth behind a smile and the twinkle in someone’s eyes are but lost traits in the path of the technological world. We were not made to be pixelized or live our lives through a screen. The youth of today all claim to the idea of anxiety or depression, little did we know it’s the lack of communication that creates the garden for our erratic behavior to flourish. Personality is not something you can teach, it’s something we all learn at a young age. We go through our heart breaks and we find a way to move on, but at the end of the day you cannot digitalize a learning experience. With this perspective in mind I say unto you, break free of our chains and use it as intended, be the sculptor of your own life and carve your path in this world. You have and always will hold the key to your own destiny.
